Depression Evaluation, Therapy & Medication Management

Depression can affect much more than mood. It can change sleep, energy, concentration, motivation, appetite, relationships, work, and the way a person feels about themselves. For some people, depression feels like sadness. For others, it feels like numbness, irritability, exhaustion, or simply not feeling like themselves.

Medtriq helps adults across Washington better understand what may be contributing to depression symptoms and what treatment options may fit their situation. Care may include evaluation, medication management, and therapy on a limited basis.

Why a full assessment matters

Depression can have many causes and many patterns. It may appear on its own, happen alongside anxiety or sleep problems, follow major stress, or overlap with medical conditions, substance use, trauma, ADHD, or bipolar disorder.

A thorough assessment gives your provider a clearer picture before recommending a treatment plan. During the first steps of care, your provider may ask about symptoms, sleep, medical history, current medications, prior treatment, substance use, safety, stressors, and what you most want to improve.

The goal is not to force everyone into the same treatment path. The goal is to understand your situation well enough to discuss options that make sense for you.

Treatment options for depression

Depression treatment may include medication management, therapy when available, lifestyle and sleep supports, or coordination with other clinicians when needed.

Medication can be helpful for some patients, but the right option depends on the individual. Your provider will talk with you about possible benefits, side effects, timing, past medication experiences, and what to expect during follow-up.

Therapy is available at Medtriq on a limited basis depending on clinical fit, provider availability, and appointment capacity. If another type of therapy would be a better fit, your provider may discuss that with you as part of the overall plan.

Telehealth depression care

Many adults can begin depression evaluation and follow-up care by telehealth. Telehealth can make it easier to get started, especially when travel, work schedules, childcare, or distance from a clinic make in-person care difficult.

Medtriq serves adults throughout Washington State and also has an office in University Place for local patients.

FAQ

I feel depressed but I am not sure if I need medication. Can Medtriq still help?

Yes. Many people start care without knowing whether medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, or another approach is the right next step. A good evaluation helps clarify what may be going on and what options are worth considering.

What if I have been feeling low for a long time but I can still function?

Depression does not always look like being unable to get out of bed. Some people continue working, caring for family, or keeping up appearances while feeling exhausted, disconnected, irritable, or unlike themselves. If symptoms are lasting or affecting your quality of life, an evaluation may be worthwhile.

Can depression make it hard to focus or get things done?

Yes. Depression can affect concentration, memory, motivation, energy, and follow-through. During an assessment, your provider can help sort through whether focus problems may be related to depression, ADHD, anxiety, sleep, stress, or a combination of factors.

Can Medtriq help if I have tried antidepressants before?

Yes. Prior medication experiences are useful information. Your provider may ask what you tried, what helped, what did not help, side effects you had, how long you took the medication, and what was happening in your life at the time. That history can help guide the next discussion.

Does Medtriq provide therapy for depression?

Therapy is available on a limited basis depending on clinical fit, provider availability, and appointment capacity. If therapy is recommended and Medtriq is not the best fit for that need, your provider may discuss other options.

Will I automatically be prescribed medication if I complete an intake form?

Not automatically. Medication is one possible tool, but treatment decisions are made after an assessment and a conversation with your provider. Some patients benefit from medication, some benefit from therapy or other supports, and some benefit from a combination.

Can depression care happen through telehealth?

Many adults can begin depression evaluation and follow-up care by telehealth when clinically appropriate. Telehealth can make it easier to start care if travel, scheduling, distance, or privacy concerns have made it harder to seek help.

What should I do if my depression feels urgent or unsafe?

If you may hurt yourself, feel unable to stay safe, or are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, call or text 988. Medtriq’s website, forms, email, and text messaging are not emergency services.

Does Medtriq accept commercial insurance for depression care?

Medtriq accepts many major commercial insurance plans. Coverage depends on the specific plan, benefits, network status, and service type. Completing an intake form or calling/texting Medtriq can help start the process of understanding your options.

Why would I choose self-pay if I have insurance?

Some patients prefer self-pay because they want more control over how their mental health information is shared with an insurance plan. When insurance is used, information needed for billing and payment may be shared with the health plan and may appear in plan records or explanations of benefits.

Self-pay may reduce what is sent to insurance for that service, but it does not make care anonymous. Medtriq still maintains medical records and follows applicable privacy laws. If privacy is one of your concerns, call or text Medtriq so the team can help you understand the available options.

Does Medtriq accept Medicaid or Medicare?

Medicaid and Medicare may be accepted on a limited basis depending on provider availability and appointment capacity. If you have Medicaid or Medicare, you are still welcome to complete an intake form or call/text Medtriq to learn more.
